It is our pleasure to introduce Kara-Lynn MacDonald (McRae) as part of the growing LivingWell team!
After completing her undergraduate degree at the University of New Brunswick, Kara-Lynn decided to purse the Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology (MACP) program at Yorkville University. She will be doing her practicum placement at LivingWell starting in September 2024.
Her previous experience as a Support Worker with Colchester Residential Services Society, involved promoting meaningful life skills within the home and in the community. Supporting the daily lives of adult individuals living with various intellectual and/or physical disabilities. Much of her volunteer experience includes working with youth or participating in sports including coaching various local hockey and soccer teams, along with becoming a Big Couple, together with her husband, to a Little Brother in 2022.
Kara-Lynn understands it can be intimidating to take that first step towards change - and the courage and vulnerability it takes to reach out for help! She believes the secret to change is to focus on who we can become, focusing on the present through self-compassion and empathy.
By using an integrative approach, Kara-Lynn aims to help you identify and build upon your personal strengths, values, and beliefs to better navigate life’s challenges and achieve your goals. She is passionate about helping others in a way that best suits the needs of each unique individual. In doing so, she strives to provide a safe and nonjudgmental environment to ensure you feel comfortable and heard.
When she is not at the office or doing schoolwork, Kara-Lynn enjoys spending time with family, friends, and their dog Duke! She also loves being outside in nature, camping, swimming, and four wheeling! If it's outside, she loves it!
Kara-Lynn is looking forward to meeting you as you step into your healing journey!
